ahhh friday...

Yay Friday...

It's turned out to be a simple, but nice day here today.

Hunt and I meet some of the KECPTA group at Casa Manana and enjoyed the performance "Miss Nelson is Missing!". It was a good play, but I believe could have been a little better. None the less we enjoyed it. The books Miss Nelson is Missing! are cute if you haven't read any yet. I've read a couple to Hunt and he liked them. Sometimes he wants to act silly and pretend to be afraid of Miss Viola Swamp. But after explaining what happened he understood she was just "dressed up" to look scary and like a witch.
Afterward we rushed back home to eat a bit of lunch and see daddy before he had to leave for work.
Daddy's truck is still in the shop so he's still driving mama's Tahoe to work. Man will it be nice when it's finished and we have 2 vehicles again. It's been there for about 3 weeks now. It's not that I have places I need to go in the late afternoon/evenings, but it's just the fact that I'm stuck here at home. Thank goodness I don't have a job I have to go to. My job is right here at home, taking care of my little guy Hunt. And we've been doing fine.

Yesterday we enjoyed some time at the park. It was just perfect and we needed to get out of the house and away from the home for a while. The park started to get a little crowded towards the end. I guess with the beautiful weather, we weren't the only ones with the idea of the park.

Oh and I HAVE to share this...
Has anyone seen this video clip? It's so sweet!
Take a look...

Cute huh???

Here's hoping everyone has a nice weekend...

happy Mardi Gras!...

Fat Tuesday...that's how I felt today after our big lunch(fat and lazy)!

Ughhh...

My kitchen is slowly getting back to normal and cleaned up after all the homemade goodness and HUGE mess today. What the heck was I thinking? Oh...let's have some Steak soup...oh and fresh corn bread...oh and in celebration of Mardi Gras let's make King Cake! Oh yea such a good idea!
It was ALL so wonderful though. Everything was very tasty and enjoyed by our little family.

If you've never had King Cake before, it's similar to a cinnamon roll type cake with a simple icing and colored sugars. It took about 4 1/2 hours total to make. Yeah I know crazy! The reason for the long preparation is because you have yeast setting, dough kneading, dough rising(for 2 hours). Then you make the filing, roll the dough, sprinkle the filling on the dough and roll it up tight. Then let it sit another 45 min. after which you pop it in the oven for 30 min. Next comes the simple icing and then the colored sugar. A long wait I know, but hey...it's Mardi Gras and I wanted to give it a try. And it was really good. The recipe I used was for a serving of 16, so I cut it in half and found no problems(no way did we need that much left over cake just laying around). I even stuck in the little baby that is tradition. I believe the baby is put into the cake and whom ever gets the slice of the cake with the baby makes a wish(or something like that). I also read somewhere that the person that gets the baby hosts the following years' Mardi Gras party.
Anyway, I made it so Hunt got the little baby and he was excited until he noticed that I had amputated the babies little arm. Then the whining came on. Yes...mama accidentally cut the babies arm off while cutting our cake pieces. While eating our cake Hunt kept bring up the fact that the baby needs a "fixed arm". So thank the Lord I have another little baby that I replaced the handicap one with. Hunt never knew the difference. I simply told him I fixed her.
See, mama IS a miracle worker!!! I saved the day!

*I think the cake combined with the icing and colored sugar gave Hunt a sugar rush. He was running around the house like a mad man not too long after eating his cake* *Just a word of caution*

Along with the King Cake Hunt and I made Mardi Gras masks. We painted them yellow last night so that they would be dry today. Then this morning we glued on, buttons, sequins, pom poms and feathers. Added a string and ta da...Mardi Gras masks! I was unable to find those darned beaded necklaces that Mardi Gras is famous for. And, I know we have some. I swear any other time I would have found them without looking, but not last night. Oh well, we managed without them.
(I'll spare you the photo of mama wearing her mask)...

Hope you enjoy your day like we enjoyed ours...

food and weekly plans...

Oh Monday...it's hard to get started with a new week sometimes isn't it?...

We did have a nice and relaxing weekend here at the Harvey House. Saturday we didn't do much except eat dinner with friends...seafood...yumm yumm!!! Sunday we hung out at home, watched a movie and daddy fired up the grill for homemade fajitas! And another batch of homemade guacamole to. We were so miserable after dinner that we thought we were going to pop. Fat as little ticks I tell you!

I finally finished Hunt's thank you cards and daddy's mailing them out today. Sorry for the delay folks! My mind has been slipping lately. But they are now on their way.

Our plans this week aren't too busy. We'll be going to story time on Wednesday, playgroup on Thursday and a play at Casa Manana on Friday. I'm really excited about the play. I've read "Miss Nelson is Missing!" books to Hunt before and that is the theme of this play Friday. I'm hoping it's a good performance.
Maybe we'll have to do some Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras celebrating tomorrow.

Canton is this coming weekend, but sadly I won't be going. We have plans to attend a retirement lunch for an older couple that hubs works with. They both work with the Sheriff's Department and will be retiring. Hubs has already spoke up and said that we will be there. Sorry Canton...my love! But be assured that I will be making a trip down that way as soon as I can. Oh how I love Canton!

You have a great evening, you hear...

happy friday...

Well we made it to Friday didn't we.

We've not been doing much this week. Hanging around the hacienda, just taking it easy. Watching a few movies, playing a few games and working in our workbooks. Practicing our name and letter writing and baking cupcakes.

Hunt and I watched Charlotte's Web yesterday evening. Oh man...I cry every time it comes to the part when Charlotte tells Wilbur..."I'm languishing". She tells Wilbur something to the fact of... we're born, we live and then we die. And shortly after she passes and they leave her in the stall at the fair grounds and go back to the farm. ohhh! Tears were rolling down my face and Hunt was wiping them for me with a funny look as if to say..."what's your problem"? Poor Hunt, too young to understand about death yet. If you know me you know I can't stand spiders! Hate them as a matter of fact! But, poor sweet Charlotte!!!

Today we enjoyed Granny's tacos for lunch...ummm ummm good! I made the tacos, which by the way ARE the BEST in the WORLD! And daddy made us fresh homemade Granny's guacamole(which is also the BEST)! You just don't understand unless you've had them. The tacos are not at all healthy as you know tacos aren't, but these I believe go way beyond that. Fried up and delicious! But hey...it's not like we have them every day or even every week...(maybe twice a month). They take a little time to prepare, but well worth it. Next time I'll take photos to show you their goodness. I thought about it today, but only after our tummies were full and they had all been eat up.

We did make our way outside for a bit. We needed to get the stink blown off of us and let the sunshine hit our faces. Breath the fresh(or at least I hope kind of fresh) air. We played on the swing, blew bubbles and drew with sidewalk chalk. Hunt and I traced each other making chalk people. Hahaha look at mama's...

We went down a few houses and visited with a neighbor. He lost one of his black scottie dogs a week ago. Johnny Ringo go hit by a car in front of their house. So very sad. The couple has no children except for their doggies, so I know they are taking it really hard. I remember having to put our blue heeler Blueberry to sleep just before Hunt was born. In fact less than a week before he was delivered. She was up there in age and was having medical problems. I was terribly upset. My sorrow may have been a factor in Hunt being delivered a month early. Hunt was due on March 3rd and was born on February 3rd. Talking with him brought tears to my, and his eyes. Such heart break. It's difficult to lose a little friend/pet. I hope that their sadness eases and time helps them recover. We'll miss you little Ringo. May your soul rest in peace above this earth.

Not much is planned this weekend, but sometimes that's a nice thing right?

See you next week...

one year ago today...

HAPPY BLOG-IVERSARY to ADVENTURES OF THE SAHM!

One year ago today...
One Whole Year Blogging!

Wow, has it really been a year since I started this blog?! It's been fun although in the past I haven't posted regularly. I'm trying to do better now.

Here's to one year of our family adventures and activities!

Our family is planning a vacation towards the end of April. I think this year we'll just head down to San Antonio. I believe Hunt will enjoy Sea World and the San Antonio Zoo. We may stop at the Buckhorn saloon(they have different mounted animals) and maybe even the market(mama is looking forward to this one). Hubs and I both have been to Sea World and the zoo, years ago. So it will be like a new experience for us as well as Hunt.

see ya soon...

on my mind...

How is everyone's Tuesday going? Mine's going fine.

Just a few things on my mind I wanted to talk about...

First has anyone heard of Andy Goldsworthy? He is amazing. He turns natural things and nature into art. Just look at part of this clip. You can find more on YouTube. I was thinking of purchasing his dvd. Take a look...Amazing!...

If you get a chance take a look at some of his other videos.

Planting/seed update::
As you remember Hunt and I planted some seeds on February 3rd. I posted about it on that day and included photos.
And so on February 9th I posted about some of the seeds sprouting.
Well as of today we have 4 radish sprouts, 2 green onion sprouts, 2 white onion sprouts, and 1 carrot sprout. I've been talking to the tomato and cucumber pots asking when they plan on coming through. No answer yet. But, I'll be satisfied for now with what we have growing. It seems Hunt and I do have green thumbs(or at least partial green thumbs).

Have I mentioned before that I have the most adorable son ever?! I think so, anyway he is. He makes me laugh ALL the time and is such a hoot! He couldn't be more perfect! I love him so!!!!

So I still need to get our Thank You cards/notes out for Hunt and my birthday gifts. I keep forgetting and I don't want it to go too long. I really hate that!
So that's on the list tomorrow. Finish and mail Thank Yous.

Well, it's time for Hunt's bath and getting ready for bed. Bath, brush teeth, read stories and a few songs...our daily bedtime ritual...

good monday...

A new week starts and I'm already yearning for the weekend. The weekend where hubs is here with Hunt and I and our family is together for 2 days. Since hubs works 2nd shift, it's hard to spend quality time together during the week. So we go on, as we have for years now with this schedule. But oh how I look forward to the weekend.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentines day and weekend. I know I/we did. I got some lovely cards from Hunt and Hubs. Hubs read his card to me. It was so sweet I almost cried just hearing those words and thoughts. Then to make it even more difficult, watching hubs read it with his eyes welling up with tears pulled at my heart so very much. So much thought and kindness from my sweet heart! In addition to these beautiful cards I received to bouquets of roses. One from Hunt and one from Hubs. Hubs and Hunt were Saturday morning and picked them out. How special of him to take Hunt and let him pick something out nice for him sweetheart(mama)on this day of love. Hunt picked out a vase with 2 light pink roses, some babies breath and a little teddy bear attached to the side. He insisted on the bear hubs told me. On the little brown bear. How cute to know that he knew in his heart, when he saw it, that that was what he wanted to purchase. Hubs picked out a beautiful bouquet of yellow/orange/red-ish roses. Simply a wonderful color! I loved them so much. I put them in a hob-knob/milk glass type white vase. It made the colors seem even more vivid against that white. Thanks so much to these two men in my life for making the day even more special and beautiful with the thoughtful roses. Here are some photos...

Also mid-morning we stopped by grandma and papa's house so that Hunt could deliver grandma's Valentine goodies. Hunt made her a card similar to the owl cards that he made for his friends. Included with the card was a clear bag tied up with a bow that had several of the peppermint heart I made in it. And a single red rose with chocolate kisses to. We went and enjoyed pizza(Hunt's favorite)for lunch with the grandparents to.

With time left to spare before meeting Kel and Ken we headed over to Barnes and Noble book store. I really was hoping to get a couple of books on my book list. But can you believe it...they did not have a single one of the about 7 I wanted there!!! I was upset. I mean really not a single one!!! I guess I'll be searching Amazon or an online bookstore for them. I did but the book The Memory Keepers Daughter. We'll see how it turns out.

We meet Kel and Ken for dinner and gave their cards to them. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !!!!! They gave us Valentine cards as well and gifts. Those two...my goodness to much kindness! Hunt got the movie Madagascar 2 and I got a little silk pj set. Such sweetness! Thanks again for the gifts guys!
For Dinner we had Oscar's...always good!

Yesterday hubs grilled dinner outside. We had burgers and dogs and veggies. Very yummy! And so today we had left-overs. Still just as good.

That's about all the excitement from this past weekend...

happy valentines day wishes...

Man am I tired...

These last few days have been a blur of busy-ness!
(this post start on the 12th, finished on 13th)

Yesterday we started off having playgroup over at our friend Jeffery's house. It was a very small group just Hunt, Jeffery and Vincent. Peter had school and Shaun and Erin's mommy had to work. Gabe and Jaden weren't able to attend either. Never the less the 3 boys had a good time.

Also yesterday, Hunt and I finished up the Valentine cards and treats for today's party. I decided on some precious little owl Valentines. I thought they were cute and a little different than just the usual hearts or store bought cards. I've posted photos below of some. See the sweet owl face on the front and our knock knock joke on the back. I came up with it yesterday while we were gluing. Pretty good I thought. And of course when I went to print copies of the joke I remembered that we are out of ink...just great! So I sat down and wrote them ALL out.
I cut the craft paper and construction paper out for the owls and had Hunt glue on the eyes and beaks to the heart face. Then the heart face to the owl body. I even designed envelopes to put them in. We'll include a red heart lollipop inside the envelope with the card.

The envelopes I made.

Look at all those Valentines!

I ventured into making these cute Peppermint Hearts yesterday afternoon. We shared them with friends at the Valentine party. They seemed pretty easy to make so I thought what the heck! And they were! Really easy to make and cut out with a cookie cutter. It consisted of confection sugar, peppermint essence, and an egg white. Then added a little lemon juice and red food coloring to make the hearts a pink tint. They tasted yummy and reminded me of after dinner mints. So, I'll be making them again for sure! If I get time today, I'm planning on making more and putting them in little clear bags for Valentine gifts for a few lucky people. HOPEFULLY!

Along with the peppermint hearts, I made some lemon scones. I've never made scones before and thought they may be a refreshing treat today for the party. I was thinking with a little added Bonne Maman(sp?) blackberry preserves it might just hit the spot! Well, last night's sampling was not bad, but this morning when I tried another they were kinda blah. Not very flavorful even with the preserves. I added some powdered sugar to the tops to see if it would help. And it sort of did, but I decided they still weren't that great...they stayed home. Look how they turned out though...Cute, but not so tasty. Maybe I'll give it another try either with blueberries or maybe even another recipe.

And in celebration of Valentines I made Hunt up a Valentine shirt last night. I purchased a red shirt and used felt to construct an owl just the same as our Valentine cards and sewed it on. Too cute and luckily didn't take a lot of time. Here's how it turned out...

Oh yeah... because I have all the time in the world(ha ha ha), I put together a little mail type Valentine bag for Hunt to deliver his cards in. I used red felt and sewed it up. Didn't get a chance to add any embellishments, but it was sweet to see him carrying it! He did however tell me today that..."I don't want to be a mail man". I guess that's because I told him I would be making him a bag to carry his valentines in, like a mail man's. At least he wore it for a short time while he passed out the valentines.

Today we had the Valentine Party at the Watauga Recreation Center. There was a sea of reds and pinks wore by the children in honor of the holiday. And everyone was in good moods! All the kids decorated a Valentine bag and colored some Valentine pictures. We enjoyed some snacks and visited with our friends. Rebecca greeted Hunt as usual with hugs and big smiles! After the crafts and coloring were done and snacks were devoured, the Valentine bags were set up. Every child got in a line and walked down the bag row filling each with their Valentine wishes and treats. When all the Valentines were handed out and bags were collected we made our way outside to the playground to run off some energy. Hunt was so excited and couldn't wait. He kept asking all morning over and over again to go outside and play. Finally the time had come and off he went. Rebecca picked him a dandelion bouquet and even colored him a butterfly picture. Oh young love! It really was sweet.
As soon as we made our way back home Hunt wanted(no, pretty much demanded) to open his Valentine bag. He dumped them on the floor and sorted through them. he looked like a pirate sifting through his treasure! How fun to see all the different types of Valentine cards.
Slide show below of the Valentine party!

Well I reckon I'll git for now...gotta go tidy up and do finishing touches on some stuff.

Happy Friday the 13th!!!

Talk at ya'll later...

oh those dreadful shots...

awwww...peace....Hubs has left for work and Hunt is napping. Now I can have some quiet time. Time to sit and relax a bit. With clothes in the dryer, lunch made and put away and dishes washed I feel I've earned a little "me" time.

What a beautiful morning it was. Or at least until 9:00 am rolled around and we headed out the door for Hunt's 4 year check up with Dr. Countoumanos. He knew he was going, but what he didn't know was that he would be getting vaccinations.
So we arrive and check in and Hunt makes his rounds around the waiting room visiting the two fish aquariums and the couple of toys they have out. The movie Cars is playing on the tvs posted around the waiting room. We don't have a very long delay until we're called to the back rooms. Hunt gets weighed(37.4 lbs), and his height gets measured(40 1/2"). His temperature is checked along with his blood pressure. We head into room C2 and the nurse tries to perform a hearing test on him. It doesn't work out to well so she says it's not that necessary(unless we have some concerns) and that they will do another at 5 years. Then it's back down the hall for an eye test. It goes pretty well. Back in the room we're told to remove his clothing except for undies and he's even given a cute little hospital gown with dinosaurs to put on. I didn't bring a camera, so I manage to shoot a couple of photos of Hunt in his first hospital gown with my phone. He tells the nurse that he does not want to lay down. I think he knows laying down means getting a SHOT. So he stays up reading books, jumping around and keeping busy until the doctor comes in. She asks him and I questions and checks him over..."growing nicely and healthy" she says. "51% on his height and 50% on his weight". Then she goes over some of the usual stuff...."he eats what you fix, you're not a short order cook"..."he's not going to go hungry if he doesn't eat"..."use time outs for behavior issues"..."stays in the child seat while in the car"...etc, etc. Before leaving Hunt is sure to tell her that he doesn't want to lay down on the table. So she leave the room and Hunt gets dressed back in his clothes. A few moments later the nurse comes back in with the dreaded vaccination tray. A little blue dish with 4 needles, 4 cotton swabs and 4 band-aids. She tells me to pull his pants down to his knees and pull one arm out of the shirt sleeve. I get him laid back and still. The poor look in his eyes...he knows whats going to happen. First it's the right leg with 2 shots, then the left leg with 1 shot and finally the left arm with 1 shot. He did good until the second shot on the right leg and then he started to cry. I felt so sorry for him. To get 4 shots at once is no fun at all. And after the last shot in the arm is complete and all the band-aids are applied he says with a crying voice..."I don't want any more". You don't have to have any more baby, I tell him. Feeling sympathetic and a little guilty at the same time. My poor little dear. Looking at me through helpless eyes. As if to say...why didn't you tell me this was coming. Why aren't you helping me??? When all is done he gets to sift through a basket full of little toys to pick one for all his trouble and pain. Seems like such a horribly small price to pay. 4 shots and 1 little 25cent toy. So he checks out a whistle, a finger puppet and a dinosaur. We decide on the dinosaur. I may have picked up the whistle to, you know, by mistake. He deserved it anyway. So yes I'm bad! And I don't care. My baby was upset and still hurt from the torture. And maybe mama felt a wee bit better just giving him another silly prize. We leave the office and all is well now.

So we'll hang out around here. Working on more Valentine cards, maybe some school work(since this mornings was missed do to the Dr visit) and maybe even a movie later. Just taking it easy.

Why don't you just take it easy with us to?...

simple day...

It's a cloudy Tuesday here in our little part of Texas today and we're expected to have some stormy weather, so I hear, later this evening. Rain, thunder and lightening, wind and possible hail and tornados...oh joy!

It's a simple day here this February 10th...
We did manage to get ourselves up and dressed and out the door to story time at the library. We normally attend Wednesdays session, but tomorrow Hunt has his 4yr check up appointment with the Doc, so we went today. As true to the season and month today's story time was about Valentines Day. We saw a short movie(very very cute!). I think it was called "Because I Love You". And we heard a story-Froggy's First Kiss. Then the young'uns even got to play a rhyming valentine card game. We also did a little valentine craft as well.

Due to unfavorable weather later I'm sure we'll just hang around the house today and work on our Valentine cards and goodies. Our Early Childhood PTA group is having a Valentine party this Friday. I'm planning on bringing ice for the drinks and some tasty goodies. Maybe mint heart candies(I just found this yummy recipe last night) or maybe the lemon scones that I've had in the back of my mind to bake up. We'll see what I come up with.

Everyone in Texas stay safe and dry and to all have a Super Evening!...

birthday party...busy, busy weekend...

Whoooo Weeee...what a very busy and fun weekend we had!

First was Hunt's 4th Birthday Party at Monkey Business. We had a super time seeing and playing with all our family and friends. We played on the jungle gyms, played in the dress up room, played in the transportation room, played in the puppet theater room and more. What a really fun place to go! All the kiddos looked like they had a great time(including some of the older ones to).
We had some delicious birthday cake and opened birthday gift! Thanks everyone! After cake and presents the kids played some more. After the party was over Hunt, Mama, Daddy, Kelley, Grandma, Papa, Mick, Misty and David headed to Cheddars for lunch. Then after lunch we came back home to drop off the gifts and stuff. Of course we had to have a little tire swing and outdoor time even if it was only for 10minutes. I've set a slide show below of Hunt's party...

Thanks to everyone for coming and spending time with Hunt and celebrating his special day!!!!!

Also Saturday we attended Kash's 1st birthday party. Wow I can't believe little Kash is 1 now! Hunt jumped and jumped on the trampoline(until he got hurt, then mama made him rest for a while). He LOVED it! And wasn't too happy about not getting to jump more. After Kash's birthday party a group of us enjoyed a dinner at Babe's chicken house. Yummy! It was after nine by the time we got home and Hunt was beat to say the least!!!! He even fell asleep in the truck on the way home, which is very rare for him these days!

Sunday we meet Steph, James and Nick for lunch and a movie. The movie was called Coraline. It was a really cute movie and I love how it was made. Hunt liked it, but he did say there were "some scary parts" . If you haven't seen it or heard of it you may want to check it out.
We finished off the weekend with dinner and games.

Oh and some of our seeds are sprouting...yay!
We noticed one of our radish pots had a sprout Saturday morning. Then yesterday(Sunday)one of the other radish seeds in another pot sprouted. Here are a couple of photos. The first photo was the very first sprout taken Saturday the 7th. Then today I took a photo of the two sprouts. How sweet they are. I wonder what will be next?

Look at our little daffodils. I swear I picked all the bulbs out of the flower bed years ago, but still every year a small group seems to pop up. Oh well, they do look pretty, they just don't smell too good. To me they smell like a kind of sweet sickening odor. Hunt took a smell. He said that he can't smell them. Maybe that's a good thing...

They do add some color and happiness to the flower bed...amongst all the dead leaves still holding their home there. I really need to get out there and clean those beds.

I reckon this will wrap up today's blog.

See you here soon!...

sharing valentines and love...

Happy Friday to everyone...

How is everyone's day going? Ours...pretty well.

This morning we did a Valentine card exchange with some of the residents at the nursing home. I decided since our cards were homemade that they needed something pretty or different to carry them in. I didn't think in enough time to make something, but remembered a little heart shape picnic basket that I had my embroidery stuff in. So it became our delivery box. We didn't parade the halls like before(on our Costume parade day). We went through the front room and through the dining hall/room. We passed out our cards to everyone we saw and even left some for others that may have been napping or not feeling well. I asked one of the ladies at the desk if they would like to keep them to pass out to others and she joyfully said yes. I was able to grab a few snap shots of the kids and some recipients. And then afterwards of them playing in the front grassy area of the home. And as you'll see, Rebbecca was there to give Hunt some love and attention. They really are super friends.

Tomorrow we have Hunt's birthday part. Today I picked up some balloons and forks and spoons. I decided not to go all out this year with table decorations, balloons galore, wall decorations, crazy handmade goody bags and etc. I guess mainly because Hunt wanted a semi truck theme party. Semi truck party supplies aren't easy to find and since our cake will be the semi truck(Optimus Prime)from Transformers, I couldn't get into it as much. So I opted to buy Transformer goodie bags and party loot. Oh well, it will be just fine...right...then why do I feel I still need to do more? Could it be because I always have in the past??? From Jojo's circus goodie boxes(circus theme) to mini straw hats with goodies inside(John Deere tractors theme) to paint cans made to look like oil cans(Cars movie theme). In a way it's kind of nice and in a way I miss not "having" to do them. There's always next year right???...

I still need to upload the photos of all the crafts and homemade gifts that Hunt and I made for this past Christmas. I'll get to it soon. Since there was several different ones and many photos I'll just do it in slide show form. Maybe coming up this next week sometime.

Daddy will be going out of town Sunday to look at a deer lease. I think he wants Hunt and I to go, but I'm not sure I want to. A friend will be going with him and I believe he'll be meeting his father and brother there to. So I might just skip it. Hunt and I got an invitation to join my good friend Steph and her family at the movies Sunday to see Coraline. We'll see how everything goes.

Well I hope everyone's weekend is wonderful and for those of you coming to the party tomorrow...see you there!...

mama worries...

Today was playgroup day. We joined some of our Thursday playgroup friends at Vincent and Peter's house for some fun. We shared toys and laughs and mamas shared stories and worries...it seems all moms do this, huh??? We get together and discuss what's been going on, questions, comments and worries. Worries about are they developing and growing the way they should. Worries about how well they'll do in school. Worries about them hanging out with the "wrong" group. Worries about them getting older and all the disappointments and discourages that will come their way. Worries about just life in general. Truth is we can only be with them, help them and guide them so long and so far. Then it's up to them to make the right choices and decisions in their life...and a LOT of prayer from mama to! Always!
Don't let the worries take over your life. Enjoy the good times and forget the bad. Know in your heart that you've done your best and the mistakes that they may or may not make will be lessons learned.

And so I thought this poem might be nice...

"Of all the work we do, nothing will have a greater impact on lives, including our own, then the work performed with the little ones who encircle our knees and call us father and mother. How comforting it is then, with all the changes taking place in the world around us, to know that there is a place, with tangible results, to focus our interests. Our homes: where our time, attention, thoughts and efforts become the building blocks for shaping both communal relationships and individual character. Where our own attitudes, choices and personal deportment carry the greatest influence..." from Seeing The Everyday magazine, #2

Tomorrow our group will be visiting the residents at Mimosa Manor nursing home in Keller. We've been planning a valentine card exchange with them. Hunt and I have been working on our homemade cards to take for a couple of weeks now. We've been doing a few here and a few there.
Here are some snap shots of Hunt making his cards...

Next week will be our Early Childhood PTA group's Valentine party, so that means we'll be making more homemade cards to pass out to our friends as well. Oh will I ever get all the glitter cleaned up and dried glue washed away?....probably not, but it sure is fun to make things....
