happy birthday mom...

~November 23, 2009~

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Today would have been my mother's birthday. I hope she is looking down on us and knows that we miss her oh so much. I hope that she knows how much she meant and still means to me! She was such a terrific person and a super mother! Miss you very much! Love you always!!!

So Hunt is still got a cough and some congestion. I'm on the fence about taking him to the pediatrician. Especially since one of his class mate's mothers took her son to the dr with a cough, only to be told they needed to continue with over the counter meds...no prescriptions needed. And in the past we have been told the same!
So for now I guess we will continue with our over the counter types. He hasn't ran a fever at all or anything like that, it's just the cough and congestion...oh and that wonderful hacking up mucus sound!
I did send him back to school last Friday and again today.

The rest of last week, other than Friday, was spent at home playing slap jack, spanish bingo, candy land and a few other games. We've also been finishing up the Thanksgiving lapbook, which I'll share with you when complete. Hunt and I watched one of the traditional holiday movies...a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

Daddy went to the lake house with Ken for the weekend, so the two young'uns and I made a few stores to pick up some stuff for Christmas gifts I'm making. And fabric and material for Emma's Thanksgiving dress and hairband/bow. I found a sale on some baskets which we needed so badly for our books to go in.

I also have to share this....
How many of you have more than enough on your plate, but still seem to keep adding to it? Like crafts or art projects. Maybe it's just me then! To start out with I have Hunt-4 and Emma-itty bitty. That alone is enough to drive you crazy sometimes!
So here's a short run down of random things that I worked on, had to do or that happened today....
~officially started the day at 6, although I was up way earlier to feed a little girl
~took Hunt to school
~had an early morning music request of Deep in the Jungle by Joe Scruggs from Hunt..never mind the fact we listened to it ALL weekend long
~a stop to Starbucks for some pumpkin spice latte
~sat down to feed Emma so many times I forgot
~started Emma's dress
~some cleaning
~dropped a whole roll of TP in the toilet...klutz!
~3 emails and 4 phone calls for the Casa Manana performance activity to various members and Casa Manana sales manager(I'm in charge of this for the KECPTA group
~cooked a lunch(hubs is on 2nd shift for 2 days)
~picked Hunt up from school
~helped Hunt with homework
~helped Hunt with lapbook activities(involving paints, markers, glue and scissors)
~read several books throughout the day to Hunt as well as a bedtime story(but this is a daily activity for us)
~save a husband from a screaming infant
~hand wash dishes...did I mention our dish washer leaked last time I used it
~some laundry
~looked for a missing police costume for a upset 4 year old...who has been wearing it daily everyday for many days
~watched 2 cops duel it out in my bedroom(full uniforms and handcuffs at the ready)
~then saw one off to work
~was attacked by a rubber cockroach and spider with the help of my first born...while washing dishes
~handed over an empty paper towel roll to a hungry beaver(a certain little guy who lives with me)who needed a log to eat
~helped make fruit out of modeling clay for Hunt's wooden pot
~passed out meds to H man throughout the day
~was shot at by a tank
~fixed a quick dinner for 1 and a half
~answered various questions about our lunch topic...Thanksgiving
~painted a bit on a project I'm working on
~gathered ingredients for pumpkin bread and yummy cookies
~repeated the phrase..."get out of your sister's face, remember you're still coughing" more than enough times
~was asked by my son, while he was on the toilet, if I was eating his log(see above beaver comment)
~was thankful I didn't have errands that had to be done today
~while feeding Miss E, quickly ran through some emails and blogs

Now, typing this and re-reading it, this is pretty much a typical day at the Harvey House. Not much different than any other!

Just a regular day to us moms!!!!

get well soon...

~November 18, 2009~

Well, we're still in our funk... we've been cooped up at home again the last 2 days.

Hunt still has the cough(only scratchy-er sounding now) and still a sore throat. So we missed the library story time yesterday and school today.

The morning was spent in mama and daddy's room on the bed...
Watching The Indian In The Cupboard on mama's laptop...

It's really a cute movie for boys(girls to). With the exception of a few parts. I enjoy watching it myself.

Reading books...

Even playing a few rounds of goldfish...

Emma didn't mind hanging out there either. She was enjoying her sleep sack I made her before she was born, until...mama started taking too many pictures...

We did make it out of the bedroom to eat lunch, do a little more on our Thanksgiving
lapbook and make a toilet paper roll turkey...

Then had some lunch and was sure to fill Hunt up on these...

The more vitamin C the better!

And here's what happens when you send daddy into the store to get more medicine...

I guess we're covered for several illnesses now. Better too much than not enough!

It's so cute...right now Emma is sitting in a bouncer beside me and we are playing mama cover me up and I'll kick the blanket off. Then you cover me back up and we'll see how long it takes to kick them off again! She's quick too...what a kicker! She's down to 6 seconds! And she even has a snicker on her face. She knows what she's doing! Little tooter!!!

Here's to hoping everyone else stays well...

~November 16, 2009~

Hunt woke up not feeling well. He said that his throat was hurting and he still had a cough that carried over from yesterday. Although yesterday it wasn't as bad. So I kept him home from school and gave out some medicine. I cancelled my Dr's appointment and we just hung out at home. I'm hoping that Miss E doesn't start feeling under the weather also. Trying to keep big brother out of her face and reminding him to cover his mouth is proving to be a tire-some task.

Our little man was a bit of a toot yesterday...maybe due to him feeling a little sickish more today. Sometimes he does that. Acts a little more wilder or misbehaves more than usual if he's about to start to feel bad. Anyway, yesterday hubs mentioned he wanted to go to Lowe's. But instead of saying it he spelled it out to me. You know what I'm talking about parents. We've all done it! Something like..."after lunch I'm G-O-I-N-G to L-O-W-E-S". So I replied with "O-K-A-Y". Hunt then asked where daddy was going. Hubs just said to the store. To which Hunt says..."well then H-U-N-T-E-R for me!" Silly boy! He just had to be in the conversation and knew he needed to spell something to do so.

see you next round...

Where did the weekend go?

Gone before we knew it that's for sure!

We didn't even do much.
We did have a nice dinner Saturday with great friends Steph and Nick. We meet at Hard Eight in Coppell and enjoyed more meat than we could eat. Afterwards we all ran over to Bass Pro Shops-Outdoor World. Just to look around a bit. Such a nice time! Hunt and Emma both behaved pretty good to!

Sunday we made a trip to Lowe's for some Christmas lights and odds and ends. Then It was dinner with Ken and Kel. Had another nice evening!

Aren't good friends just great!!!

Here's to a good week ahead!...

a nine pounder...

~November 11, 2009~

Emma had a check up appointment yesterday with Dr.Coutoumanos. She's up to 9 pounds and 22 1/2 inches. And everything is going good! YAY!
She actually smiled at me today! Oh how sweet it was! I guess it could have been just gas, but I like to think it wasn't. My sweet little girl.
She had a rough time today though. Kept waking up and could not rest good. Of course Big Brother was home(due to the holiday)and didn't help much!

Daddy came home yesterday from hunting. He didn't have any luck. But that's ok, he had a nice time. He got in around noon just after we arrived back home from story time at the library.

And an add on to the other days entry about the pooping cat candy dispenser...Hunt had the cat pooping money this morning! He was just a laughing!!! Now that's what I'm talking about! A cat that pays for itself! Even if it was just a dime! Oh...little boys!!!

That's it for today...

~November 9, 2009~

Not a whole lot going on...
Hunt and I have been working on some file folder games and lapbooks. We'll post about them and add photos when they are complete.

We had lunch with Grandma and Aunt Misty and the Cousins Saturday since the guys were out of town hunting. It was a nice time and the kiddos behaved pretty well.
After lunch Hunt, Emma and I made a trip to Toys R Us. I told Hunt if he was good at school last week that he could take the money Great Aunt Leona gave him and pick something out. He chose an old army truck with 2 men. It was neat, but not made well for his 4 year old hands. It's totally plastic. We'll see how long it lasts.

Sunday was cousin Jonathan's birthday. He had a party at Incredible Pizza. We had never been there. It was a cool place. Sort of like a Chuck E Cheese, but geared more toward older kids and teens(in my opinion). They still had games and rides that Hunt's age could play and do. They also had go karts, mini bowling and mini golf. Plus the food was way better than Chuck E's...and it's buffet! Not only do they have pizza and a salad bar, they have other food items and soups as well. And many type of deserts to. Hunt had a good time of course! So this may be a thought to keep in mind for an up-coming birthday!

Daddy comes home tomorrow from hunting. It will be nice to have him home again. We all missed him!

Oh and...Thanks Grandma for the pooping cat candy dispenser you gave Hunt on Halloween. He now wants to try other treats in it...sunflower seeds and a toy G.I. Joe gun. Not sure how they would feel coming out. I know...gross huh?! But I have to say he made me laugh talking about it.
