around these parts...

Today was a cloudy very warm day here in North Texas, but Hunt and I decided a pic-nic outdoors sounded good. So after we worked in our workbook, did a little phonics(for reading) and played our Mexico/Spanish bingo(the one we bought on our San Antonio trip) we headed outside for our lunch.
When lunch was finished we played a little with the sit n' spin and swang on the tire swing. Then back indoors for nap time. Hunt, not me. I had some chorse to do.
I blanched some fresh corn to freeze, made some ice box cucumber pickles and worked a little on a new quilt(will show you photos when complete)...oh and laundry! It NEVER ends!
Spanish BINGO...

After Hunt's nap we worked on some Father's Day gifts for daddy and grandpa. Daddy's out of town tonight, somewhere near Baytown. So it's just Hunt and I until tomorrow afternoon. A perfect opportunity to work on Daddy Day goodies. We started the painting and next will be gluing and nailing(for mama to do). Hunt still needs to do the cards. Oh to find the time for everything. We need to have grandpa's gifts and card done by Sunday. We're meeting them this Sunday to celebrate Father's Day since they will be on their trip during the actual Father's Day. I'll post photos of the gifts and cards Hunt made after Father's Day...just in case either recipient is reading this. Sorry guys you have to wait!
But, here are the magnets that Hunt made for Grandma for Mother's Day and of course we HAD to make us some to keep to...

We used polymer clay and made a ball, flatened the ball and imprinted Hunt's thumb twice to make a heart shape. We also imprinted a shell, a bunny, a letter H and tractor tire and a pine cone. Once baked we glued on magnets. Too easy and fun! Grandma got two of the heart thumb print magnets.
Sorry so late on posting the pics. We're still working on my picture frame for Mother's Day. It's almost complete and photos will come soon.

A new adventure that Hunt has been trying this week is typing. I got out my old old type writer and showed him how to load the paper and type. He loves it! Something about kids and pushing buttons...they enjoy it so much. I snaped a few photos of him at work. A little writer in the works I tell ya...

This past weekend was nice. The three of us took a trip down to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center on Saturday. Hunt and mama and daddy all love to drive through the center and feed the animals. Our little man is getting so brave and enjoyed feeding them by hand. Some are so gentle like the addax and red stag deer. They sweetly take the food from you without even a little nip. But oh do you have to watch out for the ostrich and zebra. Those guys can be a bit dangerous and seem to think that fingers are as much a treat as the pellet/feed. Half way through the tour drive there is an overlook area, store and petting area for the kids. The goats love to see us coming. Bubba tries to brush them all! But we ALWAYS have such a good time. And Hunt knows the names of all the animals there. All the kinds of deer/antelope and others!
I made a slideshow of our Fossil Rim adventures to share...

It was getting close to dinner time when we finished the tour route and we decided to drive over to one of our favorite BBQ places to eat...Hard Eight!
I'm sure I've mentioned it before on this blog, but I'll talk about it again. You order your meat and pay by the pound. They have brisket, ribs, HUGE pork chops, sausage, turkey breasts, shrimp with jalepino and onion and cheese wrapped in bacon, steaks and I think a few others...so many to remember. To your choice of meeat you can get a baked potato, corn on the cob, potato salad or a salad. And of course a desert. They have awesome banana pudding!
My favorite meat there is either the ribs or pork chops.
They are always delicious! Sometimes I have to admit, the brisket can be a bit dry. But mostly all is great.

Sunday we had a swim at Kelley's house and then went to dinner with her and Ken.
Always a nice time with friends!

(Well I didn't check grammer or spelling as usual, so just forgive me!)

So that's what we've been up to around these parts.

Have a good one!...
